Whiskey Coffee aged in Whiskey Barrels
When you are craving that caffeine fix, but your typical house blend just won’t satisfy the urge we have just the coffee for you! Morning or as an afternoon delight our whiskey coffee is sure to not disappoint. Aged in one of our local whiskey distillery’s recently used barrels, our roasters use the Nicaraguan beans for a strong, dark flavor. The beans are aged for two to four weeks in a temperature controlled location. This allows the beans to soak up the flavor of the oak wood in the barrel as well as the bourbon-style whiskey smell and flavor. These beans are then roasted lighter, but behave like a darker roast because of the whiskey weight. The day the whiskey coffee is roasted the entire place invitingly smells of a bold whiskey and rich coffee aroma.
It has been a specialty coffee in production for over a year now. Because of the barrel aging process and the odd nature of the coffee it is only offered sporadically when the supplies is available. However, it is one of our best-selling specialty coffees to date. The flavor profile is obvious with a strong whiskey smell as it brews. As it is sipped, you can taste a hint of whiskey alongside a nutty, chocolate coffee palate.
Our next roast of this exciting coffee will be this week just in time for the holidays. Please feel free to come in and try a pour-over of the whiskey coffee anytime, it is sure to convince you of its unique intention!
