Bolivian typica coffees are making a name worldwide. The Bolivian coffee beans are known for their large size and the pleasant spicy and smooth flavor. This particular Caranavi coffee is cultivated under the lush forest via organic methods, free from synthetic chemicals. The perfect climate, altitude, and environmentally-friendly agricultural techniques all contribute to the perfect full bodied and spicy taste of this Caranavi coffee.

A smooth medium roast coffee, great to accompany the morning paper. Our FTO Brazil is grown by the Associação dos Pequenos Produtores de Poço Fundo. Poço Fundo is  an association of small-scale farmers located in the state of Minas Gerais, in southeastern Brazil. Poço Fundo was formed in 1991 when 76 families united with a collective desire to improve the living standard of farmers and to reduce poverty and emigration. Today the association remains intent on sustaining the quality of family-oriented agriculture in the region.

This coffee really shouldn’t have been created in the first place – the mix of spice from the Indian Monsooned Malabar with earthy Indonesian and a hint of African fruit gives you a warm all over feeling.  The coffee was named after Peace Corps Volunteers in Costa Rica, living in the coffee plantations and pontificating over agriculture and best management practices, and generally carousing over some farm-fresh cups of joe. This is a medium-dark roast.

Monte Crisol coffee is grown in the West Central Valley of Costa Rica in rich volcanic soils.  This coffee has a well balanced body and acidity, an intense aroma and a rich nutty aftertaste. A great coffee all day long!

Our Decaffeinated Colombian is Royal Water processed. There are no chemicals used in the processing, allowing the coffee solids, and therefore flavors, to remain in the cup. This is a lively coffee, medium bodied with a smooth acidity. It is environmentally friendly and so tasty you’ll be questioning whether it’s really Decaf.

Our Swiss or Mountain Water Decaf Espresso, Fair Trade certified, Organic. This is a sweet, smooth, rich flavor. Great straight up or complemented with milk and foam.

The Royal Water decaf from the Cooperativa Agraria Cafetalera Pangoa – a green coffee importing cooperative. This cooperative outside of Lima, Peru has 600 Members – based in San Martin de Pangoa, with 220 certified organic and another 105 currently in transition to organic. Coffee plots are high elevation, between 4000 and 6000 feet above sea level. The coffee has sweet undertones, hints of spice and medium body make this a wonderful ‘comfort coffee’ for any guest. This decaf is Certified Fair Trade and Organic

This very exciting 100% Bourbon coffee comes from Adelaida, high in the mountains of Western El Salvador. The coffee is shade grown and Rainforest Alliance certified. Grown at above 4000′, this coffee is wet milled and sun/machine dried. A pleasant cup with smooth mouthfeel and sweetness, great aroma, medium acidity and great body.  You may find subtle nuanced flavors of cocoa, tobacco, with floral and lemony hints on the pleasant, light and lingering finish.

This new elegant coffee is from the highlands of Ethiopia. Named from its region, Yirgacheffe (yir ga chef fay), this coffee is medium bodied, complex and naturally sweet with a dry finish.

From the heart of the Guatemala rainforests. San José La Laguna Estate is located in a valley 20 miles south of Guatemala’s capital in a coffee growing region known as Fraijanes.  It has a yearly average temperature of 75°F (24°C), it is surrounded by majestic volcanoes, and is situated on a land once occupied by a presently retreating lake which provided the area with rich mollic soils.  These factors, along with hard work and dedication, have allowed the plantation to produce a fine SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) gourmet coffee with a well-balanced acidity, aroma, and body. This coffee is certified organic by Mayacert.

A classic breakfast coffee. Medium body with smooth flavor, chocolate and caramel, lingering aftertaste. Strictly High Grown with softer beans that develop faster in your roaster, this coffee is grown using a significant amount of shade in tough and mountainous Southern Mexico. Certified Organic and Fair Trade.

We have found a perfect partner to our Ethiopian to blend a special offering, Mocha Java. We use our Papua New Guinea, natural processed grade A beans that cause us to roast slow and dark in order to ensure its rich, bold spiciness comes out to our standards.

The cup is delicately sweet and smooth with hints of spice and chocolate and a pistachio finish.  This is a complex cup. It has a lot of body and a light acidity.  This is a great winter blend, perfect accompaniment to a wood stove after a hard day’s skiing, or to get you through the bitter wind on your way to work.

Mt Yale is a fourteener in our neighborhood. It requires a hearty disposition to reach its summit. For this you can depend upon the hearty blend of Indonesian and espresso roast Central American coffees. Bold with a pleasantly smooth aftertaste.

One our our favorites, from Aldea Global Jinotega. This medium body coffee has a good acidity and fruity modest apricot finish. It is shade grown in a multispecies rainforest, supporting many plant and bird species. The cooperative is located in the mountains of northern Nicaragua. The coffee is Bourbon, Caturra, and Maracatu varieties, carefully washed and sun dried. We roast this to a Full City, and sometimes a little darker for blending.

 

This complicated blend is one of our local favorites, not just because of its connection to the Arkansas River, but because of its incredibly smooth nature. It is a dark, earthy coffee with nuttiness of Indonesians and some chocolatey notes from Central America. This is one of our biggest local requests.

This has rapidly becoming one of our most popular coffee blends – both used as an espresso and a drip. This is the coffee primarily used at the Buena Vista Roastery. Plus, it is a careful mix of Central and South American coffees so it’s ‘low impact espresso’, since it has traveled less than most others.

Whether you’re heading to the play park to do a Phonics Monkey in your kayak, or just dreaming about the river, this blend of Peruvian, Indonesian & Central American coffees will get your day going. The flavor is as lively and adventurous as the Arkansas River (located alongside Buena Vista, CO), one of the most popular white water rivers in the world. Rich in aroma, deep in flavor, body and brightness.

 

Good body (not as much as Javas, but on par with Celebes), and a good bit of acidity for an island coffee, this bean has a nice spiciness and floralness, with strong hints of cocoa/chocolate and caramel on the finish. It is excellent for blending and for espresso blends, but please drink it straight too – it shines as a straight! It takes a dark roast very well and puffs up nice and large after a friendly roast. This coffee is very much cleaner in the cup than most Sumatras. A truly wonderful coffee that should be a part of your “coffee collection.”

 

CEPICAFE was founded in March 1995 with 200 members. Today the group has grown into a second level non-profit organization which represents coffee and sugar cane producers of the Piuran mountains and the northeast of Peru.  Their main objectives are to sell 100% of their coffee to the specialty market, to strengthen their organization, and to establish good commercial alliance.The cooperative alliance between CEPICAFE, OROVERDE and CENFROCAFE, has provided important services to thousands of small-scale farmers (members and non-members alike) in the coffee regions of Northern Peru, who without a strong organization would have otherwise been abandoned without access to even the most basic health, education and other social services.
