Celebrated from October 31 - November 2, The Day of the Dead ("Día de los Muertos") is a Mexican holiday that pays homage to friends and family who have died. It is common for parades and musical festivals to fill the streets in villages and cities, and private altars accompany prayer in homes and cemeteries. Often confused with the overlapping holiday of Halloween, the two are similar in origin and purpose but not one and the same.
